The Devil’s Playbook

You have a Real Enemy, and he’s not running around with a little red pitchfork. He is much more powerful than might think and he is out to harm you in every way possible. He’s been honing his evil strategies for thousands of years and you need to know how to fight back. You might know him as Satan, Lucifer, The Serpent, The Thief, The Dragon, The Evil One, The Father of Lies or The Devil.

The Bible has a lot to say about him, because God wants you to know his tactic and be prepared for his schemes. Unlike The Rolling Stones, we should have no “Sympathy for the Devil!” Here are a few of the most dangerous deceptions from The Enemy’s Playbook “...in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.” 2 Corinthians 2:11

1. He will try to make you believe Lies. He’s been lying from the beginning. He will try to make you doubt yourself and your mission by speaking lies that sound true (because he’s had lots of practice). Our defense is putting the Truth of God’s Word deep in our minds and hearts.

“…When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

2. He will try to make you focus on the World instead of on God. If he can’t make you sin, he’ll be content to distract you with busyness and agendas that are more worldly than Godly. He will try to make you believe that your agenda is more important that God’s Agenda.

Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” Matthew 16:23

3. He will try to steal everything good and pure in your life. Through manipulation, sin, deceit and anything else he can use, he will try to bring destruction and despair your way, but in Christ, we have protection from his schemes.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

Here’s the Good News…As dangerous as Satan may be, he is absolutely nothing compared to Christ! In Christ and through Christ, we have protection and power. We have no reason to fear The Enemy!

“Greater is He who is you than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” Romans 16:20

““I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

  1. Josh says:

I am currently reading the Believer’s Authority by Kenneth Hagin. It talks about how we, believers, have authority over the enemy. Authority that most Christians fail to realize and fail to use. He shared a sad joke another preacher told him – “I’ve got the devil on the run, but the bad thing is I’m doing the running and he’s right on my heels.” When in fact Satan has already been defeated and we, the church, Christ’s body, have the same authority. Very interesting read. Highly recommend.
